Kaitlin Smith and Eddie La Croix Die in Head-on Collision

Two people were killed in a major accident in Bossier Parish at around 3 p.m. Monday. According to police, 17-year-old Kaitlin Smith was driving at an excessive speed heading South on Bellevue Road when she lost control of her 2001 Honda Odyssey in a curve. Smith crossed the center line when she struggled to re-enter the roadway and collided head-on with a 2003 Dodge Ram driven by 43-year-old Eddie La Croix. Smith and La Croix were pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. Investigators said high-speed driving is believed to be a factor in the accident. Toxicology test is pending and investigation is still on-going.

Alta Payne Killed in Comal County Crash

A head-on crash in Comal County Monday left one woman dead and a man injured. Texas Department of Public Safety said the accident happened at about 3:40 p.m. when a pickup was passing multiple vehicles on the shoulder on FM 306. He re-entered the road in a side-skid, hitting a westbound SUV driven by Alta Payne, 54, and a third vehicle. Payne was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The pickup driver, Paul Campbell, 25, was flown to San Antonio Military Medical Center. His condition is unknown.

Abdulrhim Khalid Alesddigi Struck in Hit-and-run Crash

A pedestrian is in critical condition after he was hit by a driver who fled the scene in San Marcos early Sunday. The incident happened at around 2:45 a.m. at the intersection of North Guadalupe and West Hopkins streets. San Marcos police said Abdulrhim Khalid Alesddigi, 23, was crossing West Hopkins Street against the light when a truck hit him. Alesddigi was found lying unresponsive in the 100 block of West Hopkins Street by two officers, who performed CPR on the victim.  They were able to restore a pulse just when paramedics arrived. A man died in a hospital after crashing his car into a utility pole and was trapped in his burning car Sunday morning in New Braunfels. The deadly wreck happened shortly before 3:45 am Sunday in the 200 block of S. Seguin Avenue. Larry K. Vodron, 49, of New Braunfels, was heading north when he crossed over the southbound lanes and slammed into a utility box and transformer. A man is facing intoxication manslaughter charges after crashing into a pole, killing his passenger early Saturday. The fatal wreck occurred at around 3 a.m. on the 100 block of Great Southwest Parkway. Ismael Vasquez-Peralta, 60, of Arlington, was driving a Ford truck when he lost control and struck a pole. Vasquez-Peralta and his passenger were rushed to the Medical Center of Arlington, where his passenger was pronounced dead. Vasquez-Peralta was treated and released. A man was killed in a two-vehicle collision Friday night in an intersection on west Harris County. A Friona man was killed Friday afternoon in a single-vehicle rollover accident in Parmer County. The Texas Department of Public Safety said the accident occurred at about 12:17 p.m. when a westbound 1996 Mack truck right front tire blew out.
