The Department of Public Safety seeks witnesses of the accident that killed a woman on Sunday. A pickup truck was heading east on Highway 21 in northeast Brazos County when a piece of angle iron that evidently flew off the trailer of an oncoming 18-wheeler crashed into the windshield of the truck. Charles Robert, 35, who was driving the pickup, was uninjured but his passenger Tracey White, 33, of Bryan, was hit by the iron and was sent to a nearby hospital where she died. A McMullen County accident Monday morning that involved heavy trucks killed two drivers. The fatal accident happened on July 30, 2012, shortly after 10 a.m. on Texas 72 about 10 miles east of Tilden, when a tractor-trailer rig veered across the centerline and hit two oncoming rigs. According to the Department of Public Safety, the tractor-trailer rig’s driver, Ramiro Cavasos, 44, of Edinburg, and Robert Wayne Nabors, 61, of Como, who was driving a rig pulling a tanker, died at the scene. Two people were taken to the hospital after a car crash in the 600 block of West 17th Street on July 30, 2012. The accident occurred at about 11:45 a.m when a gold Chevrolet Trailblazer tried to pass on the left side of a white Crown Victoria, but Leary Owen, who was driving the Crown Victoria, turned left into a residence area and collided with the Trailblazer. Two women and five children were on board a minivan traveling west on I-10 on July 30, 2012 when one of the vehicle’s tires blew out causing the driver to lose control. Authorities have identified the two people who were killed while trying to help victims of a crash early Monday on I-35. Hector Cordoba and Emma Alcudia were hit and killed by a tanker truck that barreled into the scene of a wrong-way accident on I-35 South. A fatal crash in North Texas on July 29, 2012 left one man dead. Police said Eddie Durrett, 57, was driving his SUV late Sunday night when he failed to yield the right of way and slammed his vehicle into a tanker truck. Durrett was pronounced dead at the scene. Laura Lee Dead in Midland Crash

At about 5 p.m. on Sunday, Laura Lee, 54, of Midland, was driving north on Holiday Hill in a Chevy Tahoe when she may have failed to yield to an eastbound tractor-trailer at the intersection with Craddick Highway. Midland Fire Department training chief Stephen Forbes said the tractor-trailer split down its middle when it rolled over as a result of the crash.
