Gary Lleverino and Javier Cruz Dead after Tractor-Trailer Accident

Two men were killed in a two tractor-trailer crash early Tuesday along Texas 44, about 10 miles east of Interstate 35. Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Trooper Eliseo Ceja said authorities responded to a two-vehicle collision at about 3 a.m. on mile marker 446 of Texas 44. A 2000 Kenwood tractor driven westbound by Laredo resident Gary Lleverino, 36, crossed into incoming traffic and collided with a 1997 tractor-truck driven by Javier Cruz, 47, of Encina. The two drivers were killed in the wreck, Ceja said. Cruz’s passenger, 44-year-old Juan Manuel Ramirez, survived the accident.

Herman William Bullock Dies Three Days After Polk Co. Crash

A man died at a Houston hospital Monday, three days after he was hurt in a motorcycle crash in Polk County. DPS says 66-year-old Herman William Bullock of Point Blank was pronounced dead at 11:55 a.m. Monday. The accident happened at 2:44 p.m. Friday on US 190, three miles east of Onalaska. Bullock was driving his motorcycle heading west the highway when a 2002 Ford F150 stopped to make a left turn onto Forest Hills Loop. Bullock then crashed into the back of the Ford. A 75-year-old woman riding in a vehicle that crashed just north of the Rio Grande Valley has died, and wet roads are being blamed. State troopers identified the victim as Beatriz Alicia Garza of Weslaco, who died on impact. The wreck occurred at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday on the southbound lanes of Highway 77 just three miles south of Sarita. A freak accident on U.S. Highway 259 in Nacogdoches early Saturday morning left one woman dead. A fiery accident near downtown Dallas early Saturday claimed the life of one man. Carmen Castro, a spokeswoman with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, said the fatal crash occurred about 4 a.m. Saturday under the Houston Street viaduct at Interstate 35. The accident involved a collision between a minivan and an 18-wheeler. The driver of the minivan, 40-year-old Kevin Pogue, was pinned inside the minivan. Pogue was pronounced dead at the scene.

A single-vehicle crash killed one teenager and injured three others in Howe Friday afternoon. A car driven by John Wesley McDonough, a 19-year-old senior at Howe High School, flipped over on Bennett Road east of Howe at around 4:30 p.m. McDonough was driving north when he left the road causing the car to roll.
