Jesus G. Zapata and Felix Vargas Killed in I-20 Multi-Vehicle Accidents

Two multi-vehicle collisions on Interstate 20 Monday night killed two, injured three people. DPS stated that 21-year-old Felix Vargas and 49-year-old Jesus G. Zapata, both from Odessa, were killed in the crash. They stated that 1 victim is currently in serious condition. The Texas Department of Public Safety said a dust storm caused limited visibility for drivers, causing the 10- and 7-vehicle pileup on both the east and westbound lanes of Interstate 20 between Midland and Odessa. Driver Identified As Death Toll In South Texas Pickup Crash Rises

Authorities have identified the driver of the overloaded truck that crashed in South Texas Sunday night, killing 15 people. According to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Greg Palmore, another man who was involved in the pickup truck crash has died Tuesday. The fatal wreck killed 14 others, including two juveniles. The truck was heading to Houston carrying 23 alleged illegal immigrants when their Ford F-3250 veered off the highway and hit trees. A couple from Conroe died Tuesday night when their car swerved off a road and flipped over two times. According to the Colorado State Patrol, Lamar Schweitzer, 84, and his wife Linda Schweitzer, 73, were travelling north on Colorado 25 when the vehicle veered off to the right side of the road of Trinidad and struck a small post. Ford Recalls Escape SUVs

Ford Motor Co. is recalling more than 10,000 redesigned 2013 Escape SUVs to fix carpet padding that could get in the way of braking. Ford says that wrongly positioned carpet padding could reduce space around the pedals and cause drivers to hit the side of the brake pedal when switching from the accelerator. The auto maker told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that dealers will remove the carpet padding and replace a console trim panel at no charge. An 80-year-old woman was killed in a three-vehicle wreck Friday night in Weatherford possibly due to wet roadways. Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Lonny Haschel said the accident occurred at around 6:18 p.m. when a southbound 2005 Ford F150 pickup hydroplaned in the 2700 block of Farm Road 920. An overloaded pickup truck slammed into trees in rural South Texas Sunday night during an apparent smuggling run, killing at least 14 people and injuring 10. Two brothers who left the scene after striking another boat and killed a man in Southeast Texas have turned themselves in Sunday night. The operators of a motor boat fled after hitting a fishing boat with two men on board Saturday night in Baytown's Cedar Bayou. One victim was rescued shortly after the incident while his companion, Damon Miller of Baytown, was missing.
