A 48-year-old man died in a rollover crash Wednesday evening on Interstate 40.

At about 9 p.m., a 2001 Ford pickup heading west on the inside lane of I-40 ricocheted off a 2010 Great Dane trailer, which was traveling west in the outside lane.

Department of Public Safety troopers said the pickup crossed over the median and both lanes of eastbound I-40, and flipped numerous times.

The pickup came to a rest on its tires facing east in a ditch about 30 feet from the shoulder near mile-marker 80 of eastbound I-40.

The pickup driver, Steven Earl Lovelady of Amarillo, was wearing a seat belt and was the only person in the pickup.

Justice of the Peace Debbie Horn pronounced Lovelady dead at the scene.

David Anthony Anderson, of Norman, OK, who was driving the tractor-trailer, was uninjured.
