A man was sitting in the roadway when a motorcycle hit and killed him late Friday night.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said the accident occurred at around 11:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 80 just outside of Mineola. Herbert Westly Owens, 62, was driving a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when it hit 35-year old Kevin Worsham, who was sitting in the roadway.
Worsham was pronounced dead at the scene. Owens was transported to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler with a fractured skull, in critical condition.
DPS officials say he was not wearing a helmet.
