Two people died in a two-vehicle crash in northwest Houston Tuesday morning.

Houston Police Department identified the victims as Jose Tovar, of Houston, and passenger Digna Evceda, both were 69 years old.

The two victims were driving a green Mazda Protege heading north on Southerland near W. 43rd when the accident happened at around 6:30 a.m. in the 6800 block of W. 43rd. As they pulled away from a stop sign, a speeding white GMC Sierra pickup truck traveling east on W. 43rd crashed into them.

Tovar and Evceda were killed in the wreck.

The unidentified driver of the pickup was taken to LBJ General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No charges have been filed in the case.
