Darrell Gene Sorensen Dies in Central Texas Ultralight Aircraft Crash

The pilot of an ultralight was found dead in the plane wreckage in Limestone County on Monday. The 69-year-old pilot, Darrell Gene Sorensen of Groesbeck, was operating the experimental Quicksilver Ultralight Sprint MX II when it went down in a field off of a private road near Limestone County Road 762 west of Lake Limestone. Federal Aviation Administration in Fort Worth spokesman Lynn Lunsford said the agency was notified of the crash Monday morning. The wreck was discovered a little before noon and Sorensen was pronounced dead at the scene by Limestone County Justice of the Peace Freda Gremminger.

Felix Martinez Struck, Killed By Pickup

A pedestrian died early Sunday after being hit by a pickup truck on the 3500 block of North Main in Belton. Felix Martinez, 55, of Temple, was walking on the southbound lane of North Main Street at about 4:45 a.m. when a southbound pickup truck struck him. Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup’s driver was uninjured. No charges have been filed. Authorities continue their investigation into the deadly accident.

Sarah Cornelison Lovejoy Dies in Single-Vehicle Highway Crash

A weekend crash on Farm-to-Market Road 580 near Bend claimed the life of a Central Texas woman. The accident occurred Sunday morning on a rural highway just near the home of the victim, identified as 69-year-old Sarah Cornelison Lovejoy of Bend. Lovejoy was heading east on FM 580 travelling at a high rate of speed when she lost control of her vehicle in a curve, causing it to leave the roadway and go up an embankment. Samuel Lee Johnson Dies in 18-Wheeler Crash in Eastland County

A one-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 in Eastland County left one Lancaster man dead on Saturday. At approximately 8:45 a.m., a Freightliner truck was heading east on I-20 near mile marker 337 when it crossed the median, left the roadway and slammed into a tree. The 18-wheeler truck tumbled into a creek bed and hit a second tree, ejecting its driver, 59-year-old Samuel Lee Johnson. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. DPS says the weather was clear and the road was dry at the time of the accident. They've continued their investigation.

Bradley Joe Mitchel Killed in Crash Near Sanger

A teenager died after the pickup truck he was driving in crashed in rural Denton County outside of Sanger early Saturday morning. The Department of Public Safety said the crash happened just after 4 a.m. when a 2005 GMC truck left the pavement in the 4300 block of View Road and crashed into an utility pole and into a tree. The driver, Tyler Monroe, 18, of Sanger, was treated with minor injuries at Denton Regional Medical Center. His passenger, 17-year-old Bradley Joe Mitchel of Athens, died at the scene. District Judge Martha Jane Trudo Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash

A district judge and a Temple police officer were hurt following a two-vehicle crash on Belton Friday night. District Judge Martha Jane Trudo was undergoing treatment at Scott and White Hospital in Temple after an accident at the intersection of FM 2410 and Simmons Road just south of U.S. Highway 190 outside of Belton at about 6 p.m. Friday. Daniel William Campbell Dies in Motorcycle Crash

An early-morning motorcycle accident on Southwest Amarillo left a 21-year-old man dead on Friday. Daniel William Campbell, 21, was riding a 2004 Harley Davidson heading east on West 46th Avenue at around 2:00 a.m. when he lost control of the bike, left the roadway and hit a traffic control sign on the intersection of 46th Avenue and South Libscomb Street. Campbell died at the scene. He was reportedly not wearing his helmet at the time of the accident. Amarillo police said speed and alcohol were both factors in the crash. A two-vehicle head-on crash on County Road 1040 near the small Hunt County town of Celeste left three people dead Thursday night. A pilot was killed after a small plane he was flying crashed on Texas 21 near the Hays-Caldwell county line Thursday morning. A small, twin engine aircraft took off early morning from the San Marcos Airport and crashed on its way back. An 81-year-old man was killed following a wrong-way accident on Interstate 20 near Hideaway Lake Tuesday night. At about 8:45 p.m., Albert Singler of Lindale, was driving a 2003 Toyota Tacoma on I20 when he moved into the westbound traffic and crashed head-on into an oncoming 1999 Ford F-250.
