Robert Keller in Critical Condition After I-20 Accident

A man is in critical condition Wednesday after he was trapped in a van when it collided with a gas tanker in I-20. A driver of an empty gas tanker was traveling on the frontage road in front of Lowes when he lost control, the Abilene police said. The tanker crossed the westbound lanes, slammed into a van and ended up in the median. The driver of the van, identified as Robert Keller, was transported to Hendrick Medical Center in critical condition. Keller is a Marine recruiter based in Abilene. The truck driver was uninjured.

Elva Gonzalez Victim of Fatal Pedestrian Accident

An elderly woman was struck and killed while crossing Ayers St. in Corpus Christi Wednesday evening. Elva Gonzalez was crossing Ayers near Roosevelt at about 6 p.m. when a car hit her. According to witnesses, the driver tried to veer off the way, but could not avoid hitting the 75-year-old woman. The driver stopped and tried to help her but she died upon impact. Funeral arrangements are pending.

The overnight downpour caused several accidents early Wednesday including a fiery crash involving an 18-wheeler on Interstate 35E on the south side of downtown Dallas. The slippery roads caused the driver of a semi pulling a flatbed trailer to lose control, crash through a guardrail and down an embankment on southbound I-35E at about 4:30 a.m. The truck then burst into flames after crossing the northbound lanes and smash into a wall. Lance Schneider Killed, Dannie Schlag Seriously Injured in Midland Crash

A tractor-trailer crash in Midland Tuesday afternoon left one man dead and another in serious condition. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the wreck occurred at about 1 p.m. on Craddick Highway, about a half-mile west of Texas 349, when a pickup heading east collided with a big rig. The pickup driver, Lance Schneider, 50, of San Antonio, was pronounced dead on the scene. A passenger in the pickup, Dannie Schlag, 22, of Atascosa, was seriously injured and was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital. Both Schneider and Schlag were wearing seat belts. The trucker had minor injuries.

A 22-year-old passenger of a pickup was killed in a one-vehicle rollover accident in Old Iowa Park Road, Wichita Falls. The Texas Department of Public Safety said Joseph Anthony Sousa, 22, of Iowa Park, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident which occurred at about 2:37 a.m. between Peterson Road and Bell Road. A bicyclist was struck and killed by an SUV Monday afternoon on FM 2499. According to Highland Village police, an SUV and a bicycle were both heading south in the right lane of FM 2499 just north of Harlington Drive when the crash happened at about 4 p.m. Monday. The 64-year-old bicyclist from Denton, Bob Pfarr, was flown by CareFlite medical helicopter to Medical Center of Plano where he eventually succumbed to his injuries Tuesday morning. Michael Taylor Ross Philley Hospitalized After Early Morning Collision

A motorcyclist was injured in a two-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning in Amarillo. Michael Taylor Ross Philley, 24, was traveling at a high rate of speed in his 2002 Suzuki motorcycle when he slammed into the rear of another vehicle at about 1 a.m. just north of the 16th street and Georgia intersection. Philley applied his brakes and the bike fell to the pavement as it slid into a black Dodge Neon. Philley was taken to the hospital where he was listed with life-threatening injuries. A man was charged with driving while intoxicated after his vehicle was struck by a freight train Saturday night in Midland. The crash happened at about 5:38 p.m. near the intersection of North Carver Street and East Industrial Avenue.
