An elderly woman was struck and killed while crossing Ayers St. in Corpus Christi Wednesday evening.
Elva Gonzalez was crossing Ayers near Roosevelt at about 6 p.m. when a car hit her.
According to witnesses, the driver tried to veer off the way, but could not avoid hitting the 75-year-old woman. The driver stopped and tried to help her but she died upon impact.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
