A two-vehicle crash near Jourdanton claimed the life of a 31-year-old woman and injured two men.
Texas Department of Public Safety said the accident happened at about 8 a.m. A woman was heading east on Texas 97 when she swerved to avoid a tire remnant. She overcorrected and went into a side skid before her vehicle was hit by a westbound pickup carrying three men.
The woman, identified as Yuri Elizabeth Casares, 31, died at the scene of the accident.
Ruben Herrera-Padilla, 37, was airlifted to University Hospital in serious condition.
Jose Castillo, 49, was transported to South Texas Regional Medical Center in Jourdanton in good condition.
