An elderly man died in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Jeff Davis County Wednesday afternoon.
At about 4:45 p.m., Malcom James Barclay, 83, of Alpine, was driving a Chevrolet truck traveling south on Texas Highway 17, about 11 miles from the Reeves County line and 17.8 miles north of Fort Davis, when the crash occurred.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety in Pecos, Barclay lost control of the truck while negotiating a curve and overcorrected.
He traveled into the northbound lane and rolled over several times before smashing into a fence. The truck landed on its passenger side, facing west.
Barclay was pronounced dead at the scene.
