A Bowie County man died as a result of a head-on collision between an 18-wheeler and a Chevy Camaro on Interstate 44 north of Wichita Falls on Monday.
The accident happened shortly after 5 p.m. near the Bacon Switch Road intersection. According to the Department of Public Safety, a Chevy Camaro was heading north when it swung to the median and crashed into a southbound 18-wheeler truck. The car was ravaged by the impact and emergency crews had to rescue the car’s driver from the wreckage.
The driver of the Camaro, Timothy Little, 21, of Bowie County in northeast Texas, was taken to the United Regional Hospital and was pronounced dead 1 a.m. Tuesday. The driver of the truck was not seriously injured.
Rescue personnel diverted traffic from the busy interstate while authorities worked the scene.
