Sue Taylor and Paula Hahn Killed in Irving Bus Crash

The Department of Public Safety confirmed two people were killed and over 40 others were injured in a major bus crash Thursday in the Dallas suburb of Irving.

The Cardinal Coach Line bus was headed to a casino in Oklahoma carrying about 45 people, mostly senior citizens, when it suddenly veered off the road, hitting two concrete barriers and flipped onto its side. The accident happened along President George Bush Turnpike in Irving, east of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

Ed Cluck, a passer-by, said “It was pretty bad, people screaming. It was just people stacked on top of each other.” Robert Hare, another motorist who stopped, said “It’s just a lot of injuries, a lot of people in shock, broken bones.”

The Dallas Medical Examiner has identified 81-year-old Sue Taylor and 69-year-old Paula Hahn, of Fort Worth, as the victims who were killed in the bus wreck. 41 other passengers were hospitalized.

The scene of the accident was packed with Emergency vehicles and rescue units as victims were being pulled from broken windows and transported to hospitals.

National Transportation Safety Board is still identifying the cause of the accident.
