Two drivers were sent to the hospital following a fiery collision on U.S. Highway 59.
Victoria Police Department public information officer Sgt. Eline Moya said the wreck occurred at about 6 a.m. Tuesday under the state Highway 185 overpass. A tractor-trailer was traveling south on U.S. Highway 59 when it crashed into with a pickup, also heading south. The tractor-trailer turned over and burst into flames, Moya said.
The truck driver, Ricardo Sanchez, 33, from Katy, underwent surgery and was listed in guarded condition in the intensive care unit at Citizens Medical Center as of Tuesday evening.
Joseph Jones, 54, of Victoria, who was behind the wheel of the pickup, was transported to DeTar Hospital Navarro in stable condition.
No further information is available on the cause of the crash at this stage.
