A 51-year-old woman died in a three-vehicle accident on FM 1960 Friday afternoon.
It was around 2:30 p.m. Friday when Pamela Melton Raines, 51, had slowed down to make a left turn onto CR 614. Her 1994 Nissan passenger car was then struck from behind by a 2001 Dodge pickup.
The impact sent Raines’ car into the lane of oncoming traffic where it collided with a 2000 Chevy Suburban.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Raines’ vehicle was heavily damaged at the front and back. She was taken to Liberty-Dayton Regional Medical Center with severe injuries and was pronounced dead a few hours later.
The Chevy Suburban’s driver, Debra Deann Campbell, 46, of Dayton, was critically injured and was transported to Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston by air ambulance.
The driver of the Dodge pickup, identified as Jeffery Allen Coker, 27, of Liberty, reportedly failed to control speed and crashed into Raines’ vehicle. He was arrested at the scene for driving without a license.
A funeral service for Raines will be held in the Cedar Creek Lake area south of Dallas.
