A police officer was injured in a two-vehicle collision Monday morning on Medical Drive.
Officer Edrees Mukhtar, 28, was responding to a routine call when the crash happened at about 2:45 a.m. just west of Interstate 10.
He was heading east when he hit a wet spot, lost control and struck a curb. His vehicle skid sideways and crashed into a westbound pickup.
Mukhtar was transported to University Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The pickup’s driver, Rose Havea, 40, sustained minor injuries.
In an accident report, the two-year police veteran claims to have failed to control his speed and failed to drive in a single lane, which contributed to the crash.
