An 11-year-old boy from McAllen died one week after being struck by a car while riding his bicycle.
McAllen police said the accident occurred when Matthew Scott Yager, 11, was riding his bike and was hit by a car Tuesday night, August 22nd near Nolana Avenue and North 1st Street.
He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead on Tuesday.
An autopsy has been ordered by authorities to learn more about the accident that caused the boy’s death.
The driver who hit the boy remained at the scene of the accident.
The investigation continues and there are no criminal charges at this time.
