Mark Angel Albarez Jr. Charged with Intoxication Manslaughter in Wife’s Death

A man has been charged with the death of his wife in a fatal crash that occurred early Sunday morning.

At 3:05 a.m., Mark Angel Albarez Jr., 26, of Buda, was driving northbound on FM 2001 with his wife, Stephanie Ann Albarez, 26. The 2005 Chevrolet Uplander they were riding in ran off the road, west of Windy Hill Road, and struck a tree.

Stephanie was pronounced dead at the scene. Mark and Stephanie did not wear their seat belts.

According to Hays County jail records, Mark has been charged with intoxication manslaughter, a second-degree felony, for the death of his wife. Mark was booked and released Aug. 19, at the Hays County Sheriff’s Office on a $25,000 bond.

Stephanie was a graduate of Jack C. Hays High School. The young couple has three daughters, an eight year-old and five year-old twins.
