A Hewitt woman has died of fatal injuries sustained in a traffic accident that happened Sunday morning near mile marker 329 on Interstate 35.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, 23-year-old Kayla Elsenburg was driving northbound in a 2003 Kia Sedona at around 9:45 a.m. when she lost control while trying to avoid a collision with an SUV. She then hit a guard rail and overturned.
Elsenburg’s husband, 24-year-old Johnnie Elsenburg, was a passenger. The couple both had injuries from the accident and were taken to the Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center.
Kayla was pronounced dead Sunday night.
Johnnie sustained injuries considered non-life threatening.
This crash remains under investigation.
