A man is facing an alcohol-related charge after he lost control of his pickup and slammed into a tree, sending his wife to a hospital.
The accident happened at about 3:30 a.m. Thursday on FM 3277 near Fawn Road in Polk County.
James Moffett, 31, of Livingston, was driving a 1995 Chevrolet on FM 3277 when his wheels left the road on the right side as he turned left.
Moffett overcorrected and crossed into the westbound lane, drove into a ditch on the right side of the road before crashing into a tree.
Moffett’s wife was life-flighted to a Houston hospital for treatment of her injuries. Her condition is unknown.
DPS said both were not wearing a seat belt.
Moffett was transported to the Polk County Jail where he is being held on charges of intoxicated assault and driving with license suspended. No bond has been set at this time.
