Five teenagers were killed after the sports utility vehicle they were driving in collided with a tanker truck carrying gasoline.
The fatal incident happened on Sunday at the intersection of two country roads in Dumas, Texas.
The SUV’s driver failed to stop at a stop sign and an oncoming truck slammed into the passenger side of the vehicle.
Both vehicles caught fire, seriously injuring the truck driver and killing the five teens in the SUV.
They were identified as Jacob Paul Stipe, 16, the driver, and passengers, October Dawn Roys, 17; Elizabeth Kay Roys, 15; Derrek Lee Hager, 17; and Christopher Lee Moore, 17.
The truck driver, Ezequel Melecio Garcia, was airlifted to a hospital burn unit in Lubbock.
