Separate motorcycle accidents Saturday on F.M. 60 in Burleson County killed two people and seriously injured one.

At 4:40 p.m. outside of Lyons, the motorcycle operated by Gordon Allen Hakins, 61, of Coupland, ran off the road and hit a sign. The retiree died at the scene. Texas Department of Public Safety said Hatkins was not wearing a helmet.

The second crash happened around 7 p.m. when a car hit a motorcycle at the intersection of State Park Road 57 and F.M. 60. Hugh Jeff Davis, 53, of Caldwell, was turning onto State Park Road 57 on his motorcycle when a car struck him and his female passenger.

Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger, Mary Kathryn Davis, 56, was taken to Scott & White in Temple with life-threatening injuries. She suffered a head injury and remained in critical condition as of Sunday.

DPS said both people on the bike were not wearing their helmets.
