A vehicle hit and killed a 90-year-old woman while crossing a street in a motorized wheelchair Tuesday morning.
Just after 7 a.m., Erna Zwicke of San Antonio was crossing the busy Fredericksburg Road when she rolled in front of a vehicle that had just topped a hill. She apparently didn’t hear the car approach or the sound of the horn as police reports her hearing was impaired. The vehicle struck Zwicke as the driver was unable to change lanes.
Zwicke was transported to University Hospital and died shortly after.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the woman stopped and no charges were filed.
The site of the accident does not have a crosswalk.
