Two men are dead after Wednesday morning’s fiery crash in Atascosa County.
The incident occurred at about 7 a.m. on FM 476 near Rogers Road, just outside of Poteet.
A 1997 Pontiac, driven by Daniel Rivera Jr., 27, was heading east on FM 476 near Texas 16 when it swerved into oncoming traffic and slammed head-on into a 1997 Honda.
The Honda caught fire and the Poteet Volunteer Fire Department doused the flames.
According to DPS Trooper Jason Reyes, its two occupants were badly burned and died in the wreck. The victims were identified as 29-year-old Dwayne Depute and 32-year-old passenger Columbus Norment.
Rivera was airlifted to University Hospital in critical condition.
