Derek Blackard Dies after 2-Vehicle Collision in Northeast Harris County

One driver is dead after he was ejected from his vehicle in a collision in northeast Harris County early Saturday.

The deadly wreck occurred at about 2:10 a.m. in the 17200 block of Adlong School Road, said the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

A southbound silver Dodge Ram truck struck a gray Nissan Sentra, which was parked facing the opposite direction on the roadway. The Nissan was hit at the driver side and was pushed into a nearby ditch. The truck rolled several times before landing upside down, ejecting the driver, Derek Blackard.

Deputies said Blackard was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead at about 8:15 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
