Debra Hardaway Neal Struck by Car, Killed in Red Bird

A woman was struck and killed by a car Saturday night in Red Bird.

Debra Hardaway Neal, 57, was taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center where she later died after a 2009 white Nissan Altima hit her while crossing W. Camp Wisdom Road, near Chaucer Place at about 8 p.m.

There is no crosswalk or traffic light at the location of the accident, authorities said.

The unidentified driver of the car told police that she was driving westbound at about 40 mph when she saw Neal standing in the center lane, appearing to have unsteady balance.

The driver had slowed down, but Neal walked in front of the car before the driver was able to stop.
