One man is dead when his flatbed wrecker was struck by a BNSF train Wednesday afternoon at a rural crossing north of Crawford.
The Department of Public Safety said a truck driven by David Reid McCartney, 28, was heading east on Simpson Road, just off North Lone Star Parkway, when a southbound train hit the truck at the crossing at around 5:00 p.m.
McCartney was ejected from the vehicle and was immediately killed in the accident.
He was not wearing a seatbelt.
There were no crossing arms, lights, or bells at the railroad crossing where the crash occurred.
BNSF said they will continue to investigate the crash.
