A rollover accident on Tuesday morning just north of Harlingen killed a young man and woman.
It was about 10:30 a.m. at the FM 507 north of Valley International Airport when 20-year-old Christopher Michael Cabriales was heading south and lost control of his 2012 Kia Ole. He overcorrected sending his vehicle onto the northbound lane and slammed through an iron fence.
Cabriales was rushed to the Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen but died from his injuries. His 18-year-old passenger, Vanessa Garcia, died in the wreck. Investigators reported that Garcia was wearing her seat belt but it wasn’t enough to save her life.
Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state troopers are investigating the cause of the fatal accident.
