Lt. James Scoggins Seriously Injured in Motorcycle Accident

A Local Texas Ranger was seriously injured Monday in a motorcycle crash in a remote area of mountain ranges far West Texas. 50-year-old Lt James Scoggins was off-duty and riding a motorcycle with friends in the Chisos Mountains, north of Big Bend. Scoggins was thrown from his motorcycle when it struck something in the road. McLennan County Chief Deputy Sheriff Matt Cawthon said Scoggins was rescued by Texas Rangers and transported to El Paso Hospital by helicopter. Scoggins is scheduled to undergo surgery due to a spinal cord injury.

A driver crashed into the roof of a house then overturned and landed upside down on the roof of a neighboring home Sunday in Houston. Police said the crash occurred in northwest Harris County about 2:15 a.m. Sunday, when a speeding car failed to make a curve, hit an embankment and went airborne. The 22-year-old son of Tejano star Emilio Navaira III has been charged with driving while intoxicated early Saturday. The arresting officer said Emilio Casias Navaira IV  was driving a white SUV on Northwest Loop 410 and had been cutting through traffic. He was pulled over by police while he was approaching the ramp towards south of U.S. 281. The officer added that Navaira’s eyes were inflamed and watery. Victoria Abreu Killed in I-10 Crash

Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed the identity of one of the two women who died Friday in a wreck on Interstate 10. The first victim has been identified as 19-year-old Victoria Abreu. The identity of the second victim has not yet been released. According to police, the Chevrolet Trailblazer was heading east of I-10 access road and was preparing for a turnaround when it smashed into a concrete wall. A drunken driver was taken to jail after he crashed into an athletic facility in East Arlington early Friday morning. Cecilio Santos Jr. was driving a Chrysler 300 and was initially stopped by police about 2 a.m. for violating a traffic rule but he fled. A traffic accident on north Highway 281 left a Border Patrol agent and a company truck driver injured Thursday morning. Agent Javier Garcia out of Freer Border Patrol sector was responding to a call and was driving eastbound on County Road 227 when the crash happened. Judith Yeager Killed in Pedestrian Accident

A 47-year-old pedestrian was struck by a car at the intersection of Tierra Este and Tierra Limpia in El Paso Wednesday night. El Paso Police Spokesperson Chris Mears said Judith Yeager was crossing the side of the street that had no crosswalk mark. She was then hit by a Hispanic woman driving a Saturn southbound on Tierra Este. The driver of the car stayed at the scene and Yeager was taken to Del Sol where she was declared dead. Police said no charges have been filed as alcohol and speed are not considered factors in the deadly accident.
