Jouwana Standley and Martin Baxter Patton Die in Highway 87 Wreck

Two people were killed in Tuesday morning‘s one vehicle accident on state Highway 87. According to Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper David Hendry, a woman was behind the wheel of a 1999 Crown Victoria heading south when it left the road and struck a tree 1.2 miles from County Road 2050 at about 5 a.m. The driver, Jouwana Q. Standley, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene by Shelby County Justice of the Peace Maxie Eaves. Her passenger, Martin Baxter Patton, 42, was transported to Shelby Regional Medical Center where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.…

A 13-vehicle chain reaction crash on Interstate 35 near Bruceville-Eddy on Monday left one man dead and injured 17 people. The accident happened at around 12:30 p.m. under the Old Blevins Road overpass when an 18-wheeler crested a hill and ran over an Acura, crushing it. The Acura was stopped in traffic on the northbound interstate. Its driver, Stephen Fu, 24, of Dallas, was found dead in the wreckage. A man died following a single-vehicle crash early Friday morning on Bulverde road. At about 4:15 a.m., Connor Neckar, 20, of Bulverde, was pronounced dead at the scene after his Chevrolet pickup crashed into a brushy area between Wilderness Oak and Bulverde Oaks, ejecting him. Bexar County sheriff's Detective Louis Antu said Neckar’s 19-year-old passenger Timothy Smith of Bulverde walked away from the crash. Speed may have contributed in the wreck. Texas Department of Public Safety said the accident happened at about 8 a.m. A woman was heading east on Texas 97 when she swerved to avoid a tire remnant. She overcorrected and went into a side skid before her vehicle was hit by a westbound pickup carrying three men. Abimelec Arias-Rodriguez, 19, of Donna, was riding a motorcycle and tried to make it through a red light near the intersection of Schunior and Doolittle Roads when a van pulling out a private driveway struck him. Four people are dead and 16 others were injured after a freight train crashed into a parade float carrying wounded veterans on Thursday in Midland, Texas. The train crash occurred during the “Hunt for Heroes” parade in Midland. The parade kicks off a week to honor wounded veterans. An oil field worker died in a rollover crash on Interstate 20 Tuesday evening. According to a report by the Texas Department of Public Safety, a Mitsubishi was heading east on Interstate 20 South Frontage Road near Loop 2 when it left the roadway causing the vehicle to rollover at around 11:25 p.m. The driver, identified as Leonard Lee Ramos, 24, of Midland, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:34 a.m. Wednesday. It was reported that the victim was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. There were no other vehicles involved in the deadly wreck.

A pilot and two other passengers were killed Tuesday night after the aircraft they were flying in crashed in west Jackson. According to the airport authority, a Piper PA-32 Cherokee took off from Hawkins Field Airport just after 5 p.m. A few moments later, the pilot, John Tilton, requested permission from air traffic control to return to the airport. According to San Antonio police, 16-year-old Daniel Espinoza stopped in a traffic lane after crossing the 5500 block of Fredericksburg Road when he was hit by a 2006 Volvo at about 7 p.m. Monday. The crash occurred at about 2:40 a.m. on Blanco Road at West Oak Estates Drive when Hilary Schero lost control of her vehicle and rolled into a ditch.
