Wesley Caskey Charged With DWI After Pickup Crashed House

Police arrested a 24-year-old man Wednesday night after his pickup truck slammed into a house in northeast Abilene. Deputies found Wesley Caskey in his truck when they arrived at the house near the corner of Campus Court and East Ambler Avenue. Caskey was traveling east when the vehicle swerved across the road and ran through a fence, a shed and slammed into the house. No one was injured but the crash caused major damage. Caskey was charged with driving while intoxicated. Police say it's his second DWI arrest and that enhances the charges.

Georgetown High School Teacher Deirdre Furr Dies in Car Crash

A Georgetown High School English teacher was killed in a wreck Wednesday morning. Deirdre Furr, 54, was on her way to pick up her daughter in Bertram when the wreck occurred at about 7:09 a.m. on Texas 29 two miles east of Bertram in Burnet County. Texas Department of Public Safety officials said Furr was driving a 2004 Ford Taurus heading west on Texas 29 and was turning left when a 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer, also traveling west, hit Furr’s car. Damon Barraza Jr. Charged in Connection With Wreck at The Intersection of 82nd and Quaker

A high-speed pursuit through Lubbock ended in a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of 82nd Street and Quaker Avenue Wednesday afternoon. The incident started when a DPS trooper tried to pull over a gray Dodge pickup on south U.S. 87. The driver, 27-year-old Damon Barraza Jr., refused to stop and the trooper chased after the truck. The truck turned onto Woodrow Road and two of the three occupants, Fred Andrada and Casey Chambers of Lubbock, fled on foot. A collision of two trucks in Midland County on Tuesday left three men dead and one in critical condition. Frank Ortega, 26, of Odessa, was driving a truck with two passengers when he tried to pass another car. Two people have died in a fiery crash Tuesday just north of the Canadian bridge on Highway 287. The Potter County Fire Department responded to the scene of the accident at about 11:12 a.m. and found a pickup fully engulfed in flames.
