A pedestrian was killed after a vehicle struck him while he was trying to cross U.S. Highway 380 in McKinney.
McKinney Police Department officials responded to a traffic accident Monday morning before 6:30 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. Highway 380 and Lake Forest Drive. According to witnesses, a pedestrian was walking southbound and tried to cross the highway while oncoming traffic had a green light.
The pedestrian, who was identified as 44-year-old Bobby Lee McGuffin, was hit by an eastbound vehicle driven by 50-year-old Juan Chapa. McGuffin was taken to Medical Center of Plano where he died from his injuries. Chapa was uninjured.
According to police, Chapa stopped at the scene and MPD did not give him a citation.
Investigation is still on-going.
