An Edinburg woman was struck and killed Friday night while walking in the middle of the road.
The incident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. on FM 907, south of Minnesota Road when 49-year-old Beatrice Olvera Alvarez was hit by a Ford F250.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to investigators, another person had called 911 minutes before the accident reporting a woman was walking in the streets.
The driver of the pickup was 19-year-old and had three passengers on board. He stayed at the scene for interrogation. No charges have been filed.
Toxicology results are pending. Authorities are trying to determine if the victim was under the influence of anything.
Alvarez is survived by a 17-year-old daughter and a son in his early 20’s.
