A pedestrian is in critical condition after he was hit by a driver who fled the scene in San Marcos early Sunday.
The incident happened at around 2:45 a.m. at the intersection of North Guadalupe and West Hopkins streets.
San Marcos police said Abdulrhim Khalid Alesddigi, 23, was crossing West Hopkins Street against the light when a truck hit him.
Alesddigi was found lying unresponsive in the 100 block of West Hopkins Street by two officers, who performed CPR on the victim. They were able to restore a pulse just when paramedics arrived. Alesddigi was rushed to University Medical Center Brackenridge in critical condition.
Witnesses described the truck as a light-colored, 2000-to-2006 model Toyota Tundra pickup truck hauling a camper at the time of the accident. Police said the truck was damaged on the passenger side fender and it is missing a passenger-side mirror.
