The holidays are a time for celebrating. Many of us become much more social during the holiday season from Thanksgiving to New Year’s, and typically that means a larger widespread consumption of alcohol. With family and friends in town and with time off work, the festivities are plenty, and those festivities often include champagne, eggnog, wine, and other alcoholic beverages. The issue is that people think they are “fine” to drive, and getting out on the road after all of the celebrating.  While law enforcement officials know that drunk driving increases during the holiday season, they are on high alert out on the roads.

Even with the increased enforcement and best efforts by local police officers, not every drunk driver is caught before causing an accident. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), well over 1,000 alcohol-related deaths will occur during the holidays, and an estimated 25,000 injuries. While you want to keep your family safe, you can’t simply just avoid the roads during the holidays. It is important to stay alert and stay aware of those around you, and make sure you have a trusted car wreck attorney in Dallas on call in case you are involved in an accident.
