Veteran San Antonio Police Officer Gary Donivan Hurt in I-35 Motorcycle Crash

A 19-year veteran of the San Antonio Police Department is in critical condition after an off-duty motorcycle crash in Selma on Monday.

According to San Antonio police spokesman Sgt. Javier Salazar, 44-year-old Gary Donivan was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center and was being treated for major head trauma following an accident which occurred near the FM 1518 exit.

Donivan was riding his motorcycle around 2:30 p.m. heading north on Interstate 35, said City of Selma spokesman Johnny Casias. Preliminary reports indicated that the victim possibly clipped a vehicle he was trying to pass, causing the bike to crash.

He was not wearing a helmet.

There were no other reported injuries.
