A fatal accident that happened around 4 p.m. Wednesday at an intersection in Gardendale left two people dead when their vehicles collided.
According to DPS, 30-year-old Vanessa Burleson of Odessa was traveling west on East Goldenrod Drive in a 2013 Toyota Corolla when she failed to yield at East Goldenrod Drive. She struck a 2009 Dodge Ram southbound on North Hollyhock Avenue and pushing the truck into the yard.
Burleson was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the Dodge, 52-year-old Bobby Childress of Gardendale died later at the Medical Center Hospital.
Police also reported that only Childress was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.
