Sonia Garcia Killed in South Austin Car Crash

A fatal traffic accident killed a 43-year-old woman in South Austin on Monday.

According to the Austin police, a woman was taking the Slaughter Lane exit and attempted to re-enter I-35 at the last second. The vehicle veered while on the exit ramp and caused it to roll several times.

The driver, identified as Sonia Garcia, 43, was ejected from her vehicle.

The accident happened at around 11 a.m. and Garcia was pronounced dead three hours later at the University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital.

This is Austin’s 50th traffic fatality of 2012.
