A Rio Grande Valley lawmaker was hurt in a vehicular accident that totaled his car Thursday morning in Austin.
Texas State Rep. Rene Oliveira, D-Brownsville, was rushed to University Medical Center at Brackenridge following the crash and is expected be to OK.
Austin police said the incident involving a red truck and a white Sedan occurred just before 11 a.m. at 11th and Lavaca streets. The wreck happened near the Capitol and the veteran lawmaker sustained minor injuries in the neck and shoulders.
Another person involved in the crash was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
It is unclear who caused the wreck but the accident remains under investigation.
