A motorcyclist is charged with intoxication manslaughter after a wreck that killed a woman on Interstate 35 Sunday night.

Officer Alison Tamez with the San Antonio Police Department said Juan Alcala, 54, was speeding his motorcycle at about 10 p.m. when he lost control along a curve when he took the Frio Street exit on Interstate 35.

His female passenger was thrown off the bike and fell over along the side of the highway, landing about 20 to 25 feet below on the ground.

Both riders were rushed to San Antonio Military Medical Center, where the woman was pronounced dead at about 11:15 p.m.

Police said Alcala showed signs of intoxication. He was charged with intoxication manslaughter, a second-degree felony. Bail was set at $50,000.
