James Mays Killed at Galveston Shipyard

A 40-year-old man was killed in a backhoe accident while working at a Southeast Texas shipyard Monday afternoon.

Officials said the crew was digging a hole on a project when James Mays of Channelview was operating a backhoe from outside the cab and got pinned by the boom.

Mays was working at Southwest Shipyard as a contract employee.
