An 80-year-old woman was killed in a three-vehicle wreck Friday night in Weatherford possibly due to wet roadways.

Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Lonny Haschel said the accident occurred at around 6:18 p.m. when a southbound 2005 Ford F150 pickup hydroplaned in the 2700 block of Farm Road 920.

The driver lost control of the truck, swerved to the northbound lane, slid sideways and crashed into a 2005 Chevrolet Suburban heading north. The Suburban was then hit from behind by a 2002 Nissan.

One of the passengers of the Suburban, Virginia Hearne, 80, of Henderson, was pronounced dead at 6:44 p.m. from injuries received in the collision. The driver and another passenger were taken to a Fort Worth hospital in stable condition.

The Ford truck’s driver and passengers, two adults and a 10-year-old, were taken to a Fort Worth hospital. The 10-year-old is in critical condition while the rest are in stable condition, Haschel said.

The driver of the Nissan had no serious injuries but a 10-year-old passenger in that vehicle was taken to a Fort Worth hospital in stable condition.

Haschel confirmed all those involved in the fatal accident were wearing seatbelts. The driver of the truck is charged of driving without a license and an open container violation. The investigation will continue.
