A two-vehicle wreck in Abilene early Saturday morning left a man and a woman dead.

According to a statement from the Abilene Police Department, the accident happened at around 2:15 a.m. at the intersection of South 14th Street and Danville Drive.

A northbound 2008 Nissan Altima failed to stop at a flashing red light at the intersection when its broadside was hit by a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer heading east on South 14th Street.

Spencer LaBrie, 19, of Abilene, who was driving the Nissan with his passenger, Tiffany Haynes, 35, of Haskell, were transported to Hendrick Medical Center where they died later in the morning.

The Chevrolet’s driver, 35-year-old Tiffany Haynes, had the right of way as the lights were flashing yellow on South 14th, said APD Spokesman George Spindler.

Haynes sustained minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital.

All three people involved in the crash were wearing their seatbelts.

Blood samples were taken from both drivers.

LaBrie is a 2011 graduate of Wylie High School, where he played basketball and baseball.
