A man was killed after his car rolled off the road and onto a cotton field in Hall County Monday morning.

According to the Department of Public Safety, a 1994 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck was heading south on FM 657 when, for unknown reasons, the pickup swerved to the left and crashed at about 7:30 a.m.

The vehicle then rolled several times in the cotton field four miles south of Lakeview on Farm-to-Market Road 657.

The driver, identified as Richard Carl Wood, 51, of Amarillo, was pronounced dead at the scene by Hall County Justice of the Peace Cody Bell.

The driver appeared to have worn his seat belt, DPS said.

Wood was a truck driver.
