A Cincinnati Reds draft pick is listed in critical condition and his father killed after the truck they were driving in overturned Saturday morning in Ozona, Texas.

Mason Felt, an 18-year-old 2012 fifth-round draft pick, was driving a 2004 Ford F-150 truck on Interstate 10 west of Ozona when it drifted onto the shoulder and went off the road.

He went through both lanes of traffic into the center median as he overcorrected before the truck turned over.

His father, 51-year-old Richard Felt, was pronounced dead at the scene by Ozona Justice of the Peace Fred Deaton. He was not wearing a seat belt. He worked as a construction worker from Hoschton, Ga.

Mason Felt was airlifted to Shannon Medical Center and was listed in critical condition. Reports said he was wearing a seat belt.

Felt signed with the Reds shortly after he was selected in June in the fifth round in the amateur baseball draft as the 172nd overall pick for $317,800. He was assigned to pitch for the AZL Reds in the Arizona Rookie League.

He pitched for Hebron Christian Academy in Lawrenceville, Ga., and had committed to Oregon State before he was drafted. He was named first-team all-state as a junior after posting an 11-1 record with an 1.50 ERA.

Mason Felt decided to pass on a scholarship to Oregon State to follow his dream of playing professional baseball like his father, who spent five seasons in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization during the early 80s.
