A Harris County deputy constable motorcycle officer crashed on the Sam Houston Parkway in west Houston and was injured.

The incident occurred at about 11:10 a.m. Monday when David Vickson was heading north on the West Sam Houston Parkway, near the south toll plaza. A driver somewhere ahead of the officer had a blow out and motorists in front of him stopped.

Vickson, in an attempt to avoid the vehicle in front of him, swerved, lost control and crashed.

He was transported to Memorial Hermann-The Texas Medical Center.

Assistant Chief Deputy Randy Johnson of the Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office said Vickson was alert and conscious.

The deputy constable has been on the force since 2000.

No other drivers were involved in the accident.
