Two people were killed in Tuesday morning‘s one vehicle accident on state Highway 87.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper David Hendry, a woman was behind the wheel of a 1999 Crown Victoria heading south when it left the road and struck a tree 1.2 miles from County Road 2050 at about 5 a.m.

The driver, Jouwana Q. Standley, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene by Shelby County Justice of the Peace Maxie Eaves.

Her passenger, Martin Baxter Patton, 42, was transported to Shelby Regional Medical Center where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Both victims were from Center, TX.

The fatal accident remains under investigation.
