The pilot of the two engine plane that crashed early Saturday morning in Harrison County has been identified.

The plane piloted by Jerome Jaquin, 52, of Mexico, took off from Dekalb, Illinois and was scheduled to land in Brownsville, Texas. The plane went down sometime overnight due to the storms near Highway 43. The downed plane was found on Saturday around 11 a.m. in a heavily wooded area about 2 miles south of Karnack in Harrison County, according to DPS officials.

Harrison County DPS trooper Cedric Grey said, “According to the civil air patrol they said he lost his wings and engine at approximately 12-thousand feet and plummeted down to the ground and into some trees,” said Harrison County DPS trooper Cedric Grey.”

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety board are investigating the fatal crash.
