A motorcycle driver and his passenger were both killed in an accident on Amarillo Boulevard Monday afternoon.

Police said the crash occurred just after 1:00 p.m. in the 5400 block of Amarillo Boulevard East when a 1997 Chevrolet pickup pulling a flatbed trailer failed to yield right of way and turned in front of the motorcycle.

Jeremy Mark Whisennand, 36, and passenger, Lakeeta Lavonne Chase, 28, struck the trailer. They were both sent to an Amarillo hospital where they later died of injuries suffered in the crash.

Both were originally from Oklahoma but they had been staying in Amarillo. Police said neither were wearing helmets.

No one else was injured.

Authorities are still investigating the fatal accident.
